What it is and what problem Does It Solve?
Ammbr Foundation is a non-profit organization headquartered in Singapore. Its aim is to build a worldwide, wireless mesh telecommunications network using Blockchain and advanced wireless network technologies. The Ammbr network will bridge the last-mile gap that is currently poorly handled by traditional Internet Service Providers, especially in less developed countries.
Ammbr Foundation believes that Internet access is a universal utility that should be available to everyone. With its Ammbr network, it plans to grant everyone high-speed and low-cost Internet access.
How the Ammbr network works
The Ammbr network will be composed of Ammbr units, which act like advanced routers. These units mutually relay data with each other and,
by doing so, they grant the end users Internet access, especially in areas where the Internet coverage is currently poor. The units use a wide
range of advanced wireless technologies, allowing them to be very flexible and to cover long distances.
The complexity of the device will not influence the overall user experience, which will be similar to what a current “standard” router provides when a user wants to join a LAN to connect to the Internet.
These units also form a Blockchain-based network where micropayments, secure contracts and transactions can be managed natively. Users who want to access the Internet using the Ammbr network will pay for their access by exchanging AMMBR, the native cryptocurrency of the Ammbr network. The price will be dynamically adjusted based on the local network conditions.
Users can decide to run an Ammbr unit themselves, and they will receive a reward in AMMBR for sharing their unused bandwidth. Users will be able to buy and acquire an Ammbr base unit at a low price. They will then be able to add extra functionalities to it by buying add-on modules sold separately.
Ammbr Foundation is making security one of their key parameters in the design and development of its network. With a system of digital identities reliant on asymmetric key algorithms and a Blockchain network using a custom, advanced consensus algorithm called PoET/PoV, the Ammbr network is leading the current state of the art of IT and network security.
A final word on Ammbr tokens
To raise funding for kick starting the development and implementation of the Ammbr Network, Ammbr Foundation plans to hold a token Crowdsale starting on 1 September 2017. Participants will be able to buy Ammbr tokens (AMMBR), which are issued on the Ethereum Blockchain and are ECR20 compliant. The minimum target raise is set at ETH 15,000, and the price per AMMBR in ETH is set at the equivalent of ten cent ($0.10 USD). After the token sale, users will be able to buy AMMBR in exchange for ETH or BTC on cryptocurrency exchanges when listed.
In addition to that, Ammbr nodes will be able to receive rewards in the form of AMMBR for their work done achieving the consensus of the Blockchain network.
About Ammbr and note to editors
The Ammbr Foundation is based in Singapore, with technology development partners in the United States, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland and Hong Kong. Its mission is to stimulate and direct technology development and the global adoption of the Ammbr Network.
Note to editors: Ammbr is pronounced the same as "Amber". Sentence case Ammbr refers to the Ammbr Foundation and Ammbr products and technology. All uppercase AMMBR refers to the cryptographic tokens used.
